Keep Calm & Enjoy Christmas
Christmas may often seem the ultimate test of a mother’s patience. With preparations starting in long before Christmas, a mummy is almost up to her wits end to make it a perfect Christmas for her family. However, it need not always be this way. Here are a few tips for hard working Christmas mummys.
Most of our children want to know if Father Christmas really exists. If you think your child is just questioning and you’re pretty sure they still want to believe, a great answer to tell them is that if they do not believe, they shall not receive. It works perfectly most of the time! Try to efficiently manage expectations. This goes for all concerned with your celebrations. Children function best when they are in possession of all the facts. Let them know the timetable of the day as they are always more happy when they know what is happening and what will be expected of them. Buy a couple of DVDs that the children haven’t seen and hide them. Whip them out when things are going slightly haywire. You shall be rewarded with ninety minutes of peace with any luck. Make clear the timescales that guests are welcome. When inviting relatives for lunch, drop in that you’re busy in the evening. If this is tricky, arrange for your neighbour to pop round for an early evening glass of mulled wine, prompting the relatives to leave before they stay so long you have to magic something up to feed them for dinner.
Lastly, most of all, always remember that it is your Christmas as well, so do not forget to enjoy this festive season with your dear family, relax, unwind and pamper yourself. It is the holiday season after all.
