Bingo Glossary: A-F
If you’re a newcomer to Bingo, you’ve probably been exposed to some of the Bingo jargon that’s so often used in the game. Entering into the Bingo world can be challenging for beginners for exactly this reason. It sometimes feels as if Bingo players are communicating in their own language when they use phrases like “progressive jackpot,” “RNG” and “dauber.”
If you’re really dedicated to joining a Bingo community, it’s important to learn and use Bingo jargon even though it might seem strange at first. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll discover just how much fun it is to casually toss out phrases like, “During Moonlight Bingo I won the Money Ball with a Hardway Bingo!”
75 Ball Bingo: Also known as American Bingo, one of the two popular Bingo versions that uses a 5×5 card played in the American style.
90 Ball Bingo: Also known as UK Bingo, one of the two popular Bingo versions that uses a 9×3 card played in the UK style.
Admission: The number of cards that a player must purchase to play in a Bingo game; the amount differs from Bingo Hall to Bingo Hall and amongst online Bingo sites.
Auto Dauber: The online Bingo option where the program automatically marks the called numbers on a player’s Bingo card.
Bingo Lingo: The rhyming game callers use when calling out the numbers. For example, for the number 51, “Five and one, fifty-one, tweak of the thumb.” Today, Bingo Lingo has fallen out of popular use.
Caller: The person who calls out the numbers in a Bingo game.
Chat Games: Non-Bingo games that players can play and win when using the chat feature in an online Bingo room.
Chat Master: The person in control of the chat room and chat games.
Coverall: A Bingo pattern that requires players to cover all of the numbers on the card to win.
Dauber: The marker used to mark called numbers on a Bingo card.
Free Space: Found only on 75 Ball Bingo cards and not on 90 Ball Bingo cards, this is the middle square in the 5×5 card that has no number, thus giving you one mark “for free.” Mark this space in the beginning of the game.
Full House: A winning Bingo pattern in 90 Ball Bingo where a player marks all 15 numbers on his card.
