Bingo Terms part 2
Online bingo is becoming more and more popular as players discover the fun and excitement in this traditional game.
Here are some common bingo terms that you may encounter both in the bingo hall and online.
Admission Packet
The minimum number of cards that you must buy to gain admission to a bingo hall. The admission packet usually contains between three and eight cards for a regular game.
After game. This is an additional game played after a session.
Bingo book, bingo booklet. This is a booklet containing all of the cards for each game in a session in the order that they will be played.
Bonanza Bingo. This is a progressive bingo game in which the prize increases every week until it is won.
Card. This is short for ‘bingo card’. This is the card of numbers that must be filled in for you to win.
Casino night, Vegas night. These are bingo events that include casino games as well such as poker and blackjack.
Coverall. This means to cover every number on your card. This is the same as ‘blackout’ and ‘house all’.
Early Bird. The first game in a session of bingo.
Flimsy, flimsies. These are bingo cards printed on thin sheets of paper instead of cardboard. A flimsy can often have more than one bingo card printed on it.
Four Corner. Marking your bingo cards four corners.
Game Board. This is the large display board that shows all of the numbers that are called during a bingo game. Online bingo sites use virtual game boards.
Hard card. A bingo card that is printed on a thick card and has paper shutters to cover the numbers instead of daubing.
House (houseall). To mark all of the numbers on a bingo card. This is the same as ‘blackout’ and ‘coverall’.
Line. Covering a straight line of numbers on a bingo card.
Market Bingo. These are bingo games where the prizes are items or vouchers rather than cash.
Pattern bingo. Rather than just covering all the numbers you must try and make certain patterns such as a line, covering the four corners, or forming the shape of a letter.
Prize Bingo. Bingo games where the prizes are something other than cash.
Quickie. A quick game of bingo.
Session. A number of bingo games played during the course of a day or an evening is called a ‘session’.
Shape. This is the particular shape required to win a game of pattern bingo.
Speed game. This is a standard game of bingo coverall played very quickly.
Table Board Bingo. A different kind of bingo lottery game that uses special cards. This game is often played at the same events as regular bingo.
Tickets. Another name for bingo cards.
