Bingo Game Variations
Many players who are new to Bingo are totally confused by the many different variations of the game that are being played. Variations are found both online – like here at Wink Bingo – and in live Bingo play. So if you have no desire to feel completely clueless as you play this fun game, read on.
The first thing you should know is that all of these games and variations come in three pattern types. Static or standard bingo patterns are ones that require the player to cover every single square of the pattern to win, and the pattern cannot shift on the bingo card. It stays in one place at all times. Crazy bingo patterns are the ones that can be moved around the card in 90 degree increments in order to make a winning bingo pattern. Wild bingo patterns are ones that are static – meaning they do not change their shape – but can be found anywhere on your Bingo card. All of the Bingo variations fall into one of these patterns.
Here are the game variations that fall under the above patterns.
Blood, Sweat, and Tears – make three bingos on the card without using the four corners bingo variation. Three horizontal lines, three vertical lines, and two diagonals in some combination are usually looked for in this game variation.
Blackout – cover your entire bingo card.
Dotted Picture Frame – in this variation you want to fill in every other space around the edge of your bingo card.
Eight States – you fill in all of the numbers that surround your free space.
Kite And Tail – in this variation you make a five space diagonal line and then fill in the corner of one end of the diagonal line, either the top or the bottom. You will get something that looks like a kite with a tail.
Nine-Pack – fill in a square on your card of nine numbers. This can be anywhere on the card.
Postage Stamp – fill in the four squares located in each corner of your bingo card.
Top And Bottom – fill in the top and the bottom row on your bingo card to win.
There are many more variations of Bingo to be played. These just happen to be the most common and you’ll find them just about anywhere you play. Always pay attention to the caller’s directions as well, because they may set up a pattern that you’ve never seen at Wink Bingo or anywhere else.
